Yuri On Ice Season Movie
I'm interested to know if anyone has taken dance/currently in dance and what your thoughts are on the show, from a dancer/choreographer perspective.I have taken ballet since age 4, but unfortunately had to stop after graduating high school because of college. I have also studied other dances (modern, hip hop, jazz, etc.), but ballet stuck with me the most.Watching the first episode of YOI, I was surprised that they included ballet as an essential part of the skating. It made me happy to see that Yuuri and Yurio practice ballet because ice skating always seemed like 'ballet on ice' to me! It also made me proud as a dancer and wish I can go back to dance again.What are your thoughts? What did you think of the skaters' choreography (any particular favorite)?. I'm mostly in the same situation as you, took dance classes (modern, tap, jazz, ballet) but had to stop after high school as well:') I'd love to continue dancing as well but the fees are just too expensive for me now.Seeing a ballet portion in Yuri on Ice got me so excited because it was more realistic compared to other animes like Princess Tutu.
Yuri On Ice Season 2 Episode 1
I absolutely love Yurio's FS because of the ballet-like choreography! It just strikes my heart everytime i see him go into that arabesque at the beginning of the skate. And I also thought Minami's FS was adorable and stood out from the other participants (even the Grand Prix participants) because of the choreography.
Somehow I really liked watching the scene where they showed Otabek having less flexibility during his junior years as well.If there's one thing I'm slightly upset about is seeing Yurio and Yuri do the same choreography when they were practicing ballet but then having a beautifully animated sequence of Yurio doing an arabesque made me totally cancelled all of that out.
